It has always been stressed that you back up documents on your computer in case of a hard drive crash. But, what about your website? It would be a shame to lose that information as well. Here are some ways that you can back up your website and gain some peace of mind.
The Unthinkable Happens
It may happen and it may not, but rest assured that if you are not prepared for it, something disastrous could be on the horizon. You are working on your website and things just start going haywire. Maybe your web host has had a glitch and that can affect your site as well. All of your posts, plug-ins, scheduled posts, images, and much more have gone the way of many things that disappear into the ether.
When it happens you are in shock. But, there is not much you can do besides trying to reconstruct what was lost – UNLESS you have a backup plan. And, by plan, we mean that you have backed up your website in its entirety as a safeguard against anything like this taking place.
If you are reading this and you have not experienced anything like this but do not have a backup in place, you are lucky. But luck can run out eventually.
Here are some ways to get the process rolling for your protection.
Options for Backing Up Your WordPress Website

Hostgator says that website owners are responsible for their own backups. Bluehost suggest running backups and storing them in another location besides the hosting server.
